We have all done it…or at least pondered the idea – Re-gifting! The act of taking a gift that has been received and giving it to somebody else. But what is the greatest re-gift you can give?
There are a few rules of re-gifting:
1) Check for tags, hidden gift cards, or personal engravings.
2) Re-wrap gift in new paper or gift box.
3) Make sure you do not give the gift back to the person who gave it to you!
The ultimate rule of re-gifting:
4) The gift should be something you want to give and the receiver would desires.
Think for a moment about the gifts that were brought to baby Jesus.
On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. They opened their treasures and presented him with the gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. (Matthew 2:11)
These valuable items were standard gifts for a king or deity in ancient times.
1. The gift of gold.
What does the Bible say? Gold the most precious metal….a treasure. Think about how scripture describes treasure in Matthew 6:21, “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Gold refers to our heart.
What does this mean to me? Love is the most precious gift we can receive and it is the most precious gift we can give.

2. The gift of Frankincense.
What does the Bible say? Frankincense was used in incense and perfume. Exodus 30:34 says it was an ingredient for incense, the work of a perfumer. “It is to be salted and pure and sacred” (Exodus 30:34 NIV).
What does this mean to me? When you are a new creation in Christ, you are the fragrance to the world. When Jesus ascended to Heaven, God gave people as a gift to the world; to bring light, salt, and healing. What gifts, and talents has God given you to share with the world (Ephesians 4)?

3. The gift of Myrrh.
What does the Bible say? Myrrh is the dried oleo gum resin of a number of species of trees, Commiphora. Since ancient times, myrrh has been valued for its fragrance, its medicinal qualities as a wound dressing, an aromatic numbing agent, and anointing oil.
What does this mean to me? As a Christ follower, you are given the power to heal through the gift of the Holy Spirit. Healing comes in many forms, prayer, an invitation to community, a hug, or an encouraging word to a broken heart and more.
Re-gift healing!
Think of the best gift you have ever received. For me, the power of love, service, and healing are what led me to receive the ultimate re-gift – JESUS!
