It was a Sunday night after an intense week of work. I needed to get out, get centered, and get with God.
The weather had been questionable all day, with summertime thunder, lighting, and an inch of rain in an hour. But the clouds seemed to be holding off so I packed up the dogs, got in my car, and headed for the trailhead.
As I parked the car, the lightning struck with thunder following close behind, seemly on cue to my arrival.
There was a man loading his bike next to my car. If I was a mind reader, I would imagine he was thinking, Is she really getting out in this?
I was thinking the same thing. To add to my push back, I had three dogs who would need baths after a mud run.
I decided to find out if the dogs would still be interested when faced with a storm, so I pushed the button to open the back door to my truck. They shot out like cannon balls.
Game on, I thought.
Obviously, they were not going to let a rain storm ruin their fun. Their commitment spurred me on.
I knew the peace and energy I would find on the other side of my run. That outweighed the fact that I was going to get very wet.
Most people never achieve their dreams because they are waiting for the perfect conditions.
There is no easy path to a life filled with purpose and meaning.
Stop waiting. Step in.
What do you think?
